Violent armed robbery caught on camera
SPOTSVYLANIA COUNTY, VA (WWBT) - A store clerk in Spotsylvania County is tied up and robbed at gunpoint by two men.
It happened Thursday morning at the All Pro Check Cashing store on Plank Road.
It is being described as one of the most violent crimes in recent memory in Spotsylvania County. Now, investigators are talking to people up and down the east coast trying to catch the two suspects.
Police said a clerk, at All Pro Check Cashing, hands and feet were tied, he was pistol whipped a few times and was robbed at gunpoint.
It all started around 9 a.m. when an employee inside the store unlocked the front door and was walking back inside when one of the suspects came up from behind him, grabbed him and pointed a gun at him.
"He (the victim) has the gun at his back," describes Spotsylvania County Captain Mike Harvey.
He walked us through the robbery that was caught on surveillance video.
"He's now asking him where the safe is, and you see him point there," added Harvey.
Then a second suspect, who locked the front door of the store, joins in and starts taking money out of the safe.
Next, you see the suspects. One of them has his face covered and the other, who is wearing what looks like a Washington Redskins hat, ties up the victim laying on his stomach.
The victim was first tied up at his hands, then his feet. Eventually the two men leave.
The victim wasn't seriously hurt.
"Luckily, this kid is young and athletic," said Captain Harvey. "He was able to get up on his butt and worm crawl to the front."
It took all of four minutes to go down.
Since the store is close to I-95, investigators are checking to see if these guys hit elsewhere along the East Coast.
"If anybody had a similar crime, then we'd be communicating with them," said Harvey.
