BANGKOK, Feb 19 – Thailand will be ready to submit an extradition request to Malaysian authorities for a suspect allegedly involved in the recent Bangkok explosions by next week, Wanchai Roujanavong, Director-General of International Affairs Department, Office of Attorney General said on Sunday.
The office on Friday received a request for cooperation from the Royal Thai Police and documentary evidence on the case of Bangkok explosions which took place on Valentine’s Day, said Mr Wanchai.
Officials are working to prepare and translate the document, and next week the extradition request will be forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before being submitted to Malaysian authorities.
The suspect, Masoud Sedaghatzadeh, was arrested on Wednesday by Malaysian authorities in Kuala Lumpur, one day after three explosions in Sukhumvit area injured five people, including Saeid Moradi, an Iranian national who lost both legs from his own explosive device.
So far, arrest warrants have been issued for five suspects and two suspects are still at large while police are gathering evidence to seek an additional arrest warrant for a sixth suspect.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Hazaei, another suspect, who was taken into custody at Suvarnabhumi Airport on the same of the explosions while he was trying to leave the country, will be taken to metropolitan police headquarters on Monday for further questioning.
