IPhone thief

IPhone thief gets away as two men try to lock him inside subway turnstile

The suspect shoved and punched a man whose phone he took before trying to flee at the Canal Street southbound R train station around 6 p.m. on June 22, police said.

Cops hope somebody can identify the sticky-fingered shirtless fiend who wrestled an iPhone from a straphanger and got stuck in a subway turnstile as he tried to flee.

The suspect shoved and punched a man whose phone he took before trying to flee at the Canal Street southbound R train station around 6 p.m. on June 22, police said.

Dramatic surveillance video shows him trapped in the cagelike exit-only turnstile as men on either side of the gate try to prevent his escape. After a violent struggle, he squeezed through a narrow space and fled the station, surveillance video released by cops shows.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime stoppers line at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
