The frantic owner of a missing Brooklyn cat named BeeBop has put up a $1,000 “no questions asked” reward for the safe return of her feline.
Out of work legal secretary Cathy Sheehan of Brooklyn Heights said she will do anything to get the kitty back.
“Losing your cat is a new level of pain,” Sheehan said sobbing. “I want him back. I won’t give up.”
Sheehan last saw 2-year-old BeeBop on June 28 when she was moving out of her old apartment at 38 Columbia Place. BeeBop jumped out of a back window before she could stop him.
“Everyone was looking for him,” said Sheehan, who now lives in Maine caring for her ailing 88-year-old dad.
Neighborhood pet advocacy group Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition learned about Sheehan’s search helping her launch a Facebook campaign to raise awareness about the disappearance.
The “Where is BeeBop” page had 1,437 “likes” as of Wednesday night. Sheehan said donors as far away from California helped her raise the $1,000.
The attention then attracted lost pet search coordinator Bonnie Folz who combed Kennedy Airport in November for Jack the Cat - the 5-year-old feline lost for 61 days at the airport, but later died.
Folz has organized Team BeeBop handing out fliers throughout Brooklyn Heights.
“There’s a lot more people out there that need to know that BeeBop is missing,” Folz said.
